New Album out by Matthew Harvey

Posted on: November 20th, 2023

Just drawing y’all attention to this fab song written by Matthew Harvey. In fact check out the whole album. I did the string arrangements on it which were very fun to do. (Only You, Twist My Words and Whatever Happens Next). Lots of filigree and some add4s (Vince Mendoza would hopefully approve)! FABULOUS playing and singing.

I re-started my YouTube channel in lockdown in 2021 and took it upon myself to analyse the whole of the Star Wars I: Phantom Menace. You might ask why – but there is an enormous amount of intricate writing that John Williams explored in the score: incredible new themes and iconic musical moments. I also wanted to explore how he elevated the score to a film that the vast majority of the fanbase thought was disappointing. I don’t just look at Phantom but also explore other cues with reductions and pitch analysis (looking at pitch sets, octatonic, hexatonic, Hungarian minor scales etc).
