I was tasked by Rob Lewis to arrange Paul Mealor‘s fantastic ‘Wherever You Are’ which was originally written for the Military Wives Choir. As a bonus, we also decided to arrange Howard Blake’s ‘Walking in the Air’. Taking a more chamber approach (lockdown!) I scored both for similar forces: piano, harp, strings, brass along with various percussion.
Both are sung by the fabulous Cai Thomas and will be released on the Rubicon Classics Label on 5th December 2020.
Recorded during lockdown, we asked Pete Whitfield and the Up North Session Orchestra to record the strings, with Amy Turk on harp, and Graeme Flowers on trumpets and flugel. Julien Brocal and Rob Lewis on piano and piano/choir duties respectively. The fabulous choir St Thomas-on-The Bourne in Farnham where Cai originally learned to sing also join for the Mealor.
